The Vancouver Shutter Range

We offer Cedar in its natural state, sorted into Natural and Medium Natural, a lighter shade cedar delivering a stunning impression. Vancouver shutters are also available in a range of painted options. It is used extensively in loft style apartments, barn conversions and really anywhere where you need to achieve a very natural look.

The Portland Shutter Range

Our Portland shutter range is made from yellow poplar whose smooth and consistent grain make it a very robust and high quality hardwood, with an engineered core to prevent any possibility of warping. Portland shutters are well suited to areas where extra durability is required either around the home.

The Phoenix Shutter Range

Although a hardwood it is also very light allowing design for quite wide openings without having to resort to top tracking. This also enables us to confidently use Phoenix for large (tier on tier) installations where weight would definitely preclude the use of Seattle or similar weight hardwood shutter panels.

The Seattle Shutter Range

Maintenance free and very strong, with a wipe clean surface, impervious to kids with crayons but equally at home in the minimalist bachelor apartment.

The Boston Shutter Range

Crafted from solid basswood, Boston is a very competitively priced hardwood and popular material for shutters.
All shutter stiles have mortice and tenon joints to prevent warping and ensure prolonged quality and durability. Initially available in limited shutter styles and three white shades with the introduction of limited stain colour options over time.

The Hollywood Shutter Range

The Hollywood shutter range is made from solid-core PVC UE shutter components representing a major breakthrough for vinyl shutter fabrication! Ideal for harsh environments such as wet rooms, showers, conservatories where condensation or insect infestation could be an issue, kitchen sink windows and anywhere.

Used extensively over the last couple of centuries in the UK, solid shutters offer better control over light filtration. Solid shutters are fitted in the same way as louvre shutters and are used a lot for folding/concertina tracked partitions and they make very good quality, light folding doors.

12mm thick centre panels with 28.6mm x 40mm stiles. Now with rebated top and bottom rail options for tier on tier for even less light infiltration.

As solid raised but with top louvres, very suitable for sliding partitions and French Windows with solid bases.

FITTING / FAQ

Most of you will have your shutters fitted professionally by Suffolk Shutters and the method of fitting and style should be in your contract with us.

THE DIY approach is possible and Suffolk Shutters will supply you with product to your measurements and issue measure guides and fitting instructions.

There are many ways to fit shutters and there is no one way that is better than another. You may fit them inside the reveal, the most common way in the UK, or on the edge of the reveal or outside the reveal, all are permissible methods.

Frames are used extensively these days and they do certainly offer a number of benefits. However, UK housing stock, old or new, is generally brick, block and plastered. The plastering is never straight and batten fitting may be more suitable for out of shape openings. Frames were devised for the US market where the houses are made of timber frames which normally are a lot straighter.

The main difference between frames and battens used to be the hiding of the magnetic catches that hold your shutters straight, however now most companies fit with hidden magnets anyway, even in the header strip battens, its just a different look.

We do offer an inside mount L frame now that can be planed to take out some curve in the walls but it may still better to use battens if it severe. Battens can hide a certain amount of out of squareness but they will never straighten out your walls entirely. Talk through the options with Suffolk Shutters.
